Episode 49 of the marketing life podcast. This is Taylor Timothy, your host. And today guys, I’m going to be talking about video marketing. And the question I’m asking, does video marketing actually work? And I’ll tell you guys right now, yes it does. It’s amazing. And I’m going to talk to you guys today about a case study that I put on my side. Basically everything I did to produce these leads. So let’s not waste any more time and dive right in.
So now you guys want to know what I did. So basically I talk about this a lot.
Video Marketing! Does it actually work? Well, I will tell you right now video working does work! I have been doing video marketing for quite some time now and today I’m going to show you that it actually works. I’m also going to drop some tips and tricks on what you need for your next video marketing campaign.
I’m just going to throw these results right away.
We spent around $3500 dollars on ads.
We generated around 400 Leads.
Cost per lead is around $8.75.
The answer is yes video marketing works!
Here is what you have to do!
Create An Offer For Your Video Marketing Campaign
But the first thing when you guys are doing any video marketing campaigns, you guys have to have some sort of offer. So that’s free checklist, free guides, free video series. So in this particular campaign we had six offers and we had some video series, we had some downloads like pdf downloads. The list goes on and on. You have to figure out what offer works best for you. So first thing you guys do, when you guys set up a video marketing campaign, first thing that has to be going on in those videos is you need an offer.
Free Checklist
What would be in this marketing checklist? There would be a checklist that someone needs to go there to set up their marketing campaign. It is essentially a step by step process for someone to solve their problem. In this case, someone might be looking for a video marketing checklist because they don’t know how to set up their campaign.
Free Guide
The guide is very similar to the checklist. It would guide the person through on how to set up a video marketing campaign. Guides are usually in the form of a pdf download. The person downloads the guide and is able to follow along.
Free Video Series
This one might take a little more work. Video series means you need to have a series of videos that they can watch, to help solve their problem. The reason it takes more time and effort well it is that you need to create the message, shoot the videos, and edit the videos. You’ll have to test and see what works for your product or service!
Set Up Your Marketing Campaigns
The places that you are going to set up these campaigns are on Facebook and YouTube. Facebook you cost per results might be a lot cheaper than YouTube but I recommend that you run them on both. I believe that these things feed each other.
So the next thing is number two, you have to set up your actual campaigns. So you’re saying, I’m going to be asking, well where did you run traffic? How did you drive traffic? So we did Facebook and we did Youtube and Instagram.
So obviously Facebook and Instagram. Yes, it’s the same thing, right? Pretty much.
Facebook and Instagram Marketing Campaign
So over on Facebook we were running cold traffic. So we were going after interests base. We’re maybe 1% look alike audiences, 2% lookalike audiences, um, some basically we’re running to people that maybe have never heard about our product or service.
Then following that on Facebook, Instagram areas, we were running remarketing campaigns to people that have come to our website, watched our videos, anything of the sort have made any interaction with us. We were remarketing them to them over on Facebook and Instagram.
YouTube Marketing Campaign
Then over on youtube we were going after cold traffic, but we’re going after keywords over on Youtube.
So anybody that was typing specific phrases on Google, we were going after them and targeting them over on Youtube. And then on top of that we were remarketing to them over on youtube as well. So anybody, they’d come to the website, anybody that has engaged with our youtube channel, we were re targeting to them.
Retargeting Your Audience On Different Platforms
So just to kind of give you guys an understanding how this is so awesome because I think it’s amazing is if someone is coming over from Facebook, landing on the landing page, not opting in now they’re going to be over on youtube and they’re going to be getting an ad over on youtube as well. So it vice versa as well. They click from the youtube ad, go to the website, don’t opt in. Now they’re over on social media, Facebook, Instagram, they are getting an ad as well. The power of online marketing and retargeting.
Results from the Facebook Marketing Efforts
That’s super powerful. So just to kind of give you guys some numbers, um, over on Facebook and Instagram, uh, you can see this screenshot over on my site if you want to go check it out. But basically cost per leads were anywhere from $7 $4, $3, $10. Obviously our cold traffic was higher and then remarketing was a lot cheaper. Um, but there’s a screenshot over on the site, you can check it out.
These two things feed each other, so make sure that you’re running youtube campaigns as well as Facebook and Instagram campaigns. Even if the cost per conversion is a little bit higher, maybe spend a little less over on youtube but be running them.
Results from the YouTube Marketing Efforts
And then over on Youtube, some of the results that you, if you want to see them as well, conversion rates are a lot lower on youtube I have found. Um, so our conversion rates like 0.04, 4% cost per conversion was around 20. Average cost per click is three. And we spend around 500 bucks here. So the thing is I’m a huge believer in it doesn’t matter what your costs, it does matter what your cost per conversion is, but you need to be doing both of these at the same time.
These two things feed each other, so make sure that you’re running youtube campaigns as well as Facebook and Instagram campaigns. Even if the cost per conversion is a little bit higher, maybe spend a little less over on youtube but be running them.
Create A Follow Up For Your Campaign
So the next thing to make sure that your video marketing campaigns are working and functioning and kicking some serious booty, you need to follow up with these people through an email campaign. So inside these email campaigns, what we are doing is we are giving away more free stuff. So they opt in, they get something for free. Now we just give them more free stuff. Again, so our open rates are through the roof. Our open rates are around 70% down to 57% on open rates. Our click to open rate is high and our click through rate is high as well. If you compare it to the industry standard.
So anyways, our click through rates or 17% up to 23% so it is super important that you continue to deliver more free stuff to this, these people and it’s going to continue to build credibility. So that’s one thing that I have found is super beneficial when running these video marketing campaigns. So just to recap, you give them something for free. You have tons of offers, as many as you can have. We had around six you run these campaigns to cold traffic and you also remark it is well over on Facebook and Youtube and then you make sure you’re following up with these people via email. And then on the flip side, what you need to be doing is following up on your cells and to making phone calls, texting these people, building that rapport and that relationship. And I promise you guys, you will have an amazing video marketing campaign.
