What’s up guys, episode 36 of the marketing life podcast. This is Taylor Timothy, your host. And today we’re gonna be talking about how to create a great lead magnet. What is a Lead Magnet?
So the first thing we’re going to be talking about today is what is a lead magnet? So what a lead magnet is, is a way that you capture somebodies information in exchange for something that you give them. So a video series, a guy to consultation, there’s different things like that. But what happens, they land on the landing page, they fill out the form in exchange for this. So this is what a lead magnet is.
What is the purpose of a Lead Magnet?
So you might ask, well, what is the purpose of this lead magnet? How do I incorporate it to my business? So the purpose of this lead magnet is to generate leads for your business. Generate a hot leads so you can get more cells. So these guys are giving you their information. They’re giving the email, the phone number and their name. They know that they have this problem and you are here to solve it.
So the purpose of it is to help generate leads. It’s helping build your brand. It’s helping you show them that you are actually the expert and solving their problem. That is the purpose of it. So you should have multiple lead magnets for your business. If you want to generate more leads and sales, the more lead magnets you have, it gives you more of the ability to generate more leads. So I highly recommend building out these lead magnets for your business.
How to Create a Lead Magnet in Steps
So now it’s like, well, how do I create a lead magnet? So there’s three simple steps and I’m going to give you guys some examples on how to do this.
1. Needs To Solve A Problem
So the first one is it needs to solve a problem. So your lead magnet needs to solve someone’s problems.
Example: Plumber
So the first example I’m going to give you guys is we’re going to go with a home service industry and we’re going to go with a plumber.So a plumber might talk about a 10 step guide to fix your leaky sink. And basically inside this guide, it’s a guide. It’s a step by step process on what you can do to fix your leaky sink. Another way you might with a plumber is you could show a video series on how to tell that you’re seeing is actually leaking maybe small steps on how to prevent your sync from leaking. There’s a bunch of different ideas that you can go out and create for a plumber.
Example: Dentist
So another example, example number two is a dentist. So you could create a guide on how to properly brush your teeth. You could create a video series on how to properly floss your teeth. You can create a step guide on how to identify if you have a cavity. Again, the whole purpose of this is to show people that you are there to help and it’s creating a good brand and it’s helping you generate, again, more leads and sales for your business.
Example: Clothing Business
Example, none of the number three is going to be a clothing line. So how to create a lead magnet for a clothing line? Well first one, obviously a discount on your clothes, but you could also go into the idea and showing how to properly clean your clothes. Educating about that. So a lot of times people don’t realize that drying your clothes can actually shrink your clothes or ruin your clothes. So you can show a step by step guide on how to properly clean your clothes. Detergents do you should use when cleaning your clothes, temperatures you should use when cleaning your clothes. You create a step by step guide on how to do this and educate on how to clean your clothes.
Example: Consultant
Example number four, maybe you are a consultant so you consult people on how to become better will step by step guide on a morning routine that you should implement to become better. A step by step guide. On how to create a schedule. Anything that you’re consulting about, you can create small guides on proving that you are the best consultant that they could hire for their business.
Example: Marketing Agency
Example number five, if you’re a marketing agency, you can create a step by step guide on how to generate more leads and sales for your business. You can create video series on how to implement, implement like Facebook tracking.
2. Make Sure You Are Clear To The Point
There’s so many different ways, guys, that you can create leads and sales for your business through these lead magnets. So go out there, create lead magnets. I always recommend having you know, anywhere from three to five different lead magnets for each business that you are marketing for. So the next thing we’re going to talk about as being clear and to the point in creating these lead magnets. So what I mean by that, literally once they get the lead magnet, you need to be very clear and to the point on how to fix that small problem. So be very clear and to the point, don’t make it complicated on how to fix that process. Have it short and sweet.
3. Keep It Simple
Number three is again, keeping it simple. Guys, keep these lead magnets simple. Make sure that they are self explanatory. So if you’re giving them a guide on how to generate more leads and sales for their business, will that guide better be how to generate leads and sells for that business? So keep it simple, clear to the point and make sure these lead magnets actually solve problems.
Lead Magnet Ideas
So here are just some lead magnet ideas for you guys.
1. Guide Or Report
Won a guide or a report. So five step guide, 10 step guide or report mainly showing that our report is something that you’re going to basically give to them, showing that you are the best, a free video training or a Webinar. So five step guide.
2. Video Training or Webinar
Basically you’re going to give them a video series on the backend that’s going to be teaching them those processes. So a free video training.
3. Free Trial
If you are a SAS company, you could do a free trial free 14 day trial on using our software and seeing how you could implement it into your business for thing.
4. Discount
If you are a clothing line, you could also do a discount coupon code. That could actually also be applied to anything that’s a product or service. So a discount, five for ecommerce.
5. Free Shipping
You could do something with free shipping. You want some free lotion, we’re going to ship it to you for free.
6. Free Consultation
And sixth one is a consultation or a time to meet up and basically go through their stuff.
Conclusion to Ideas
So that’s going to wrap up that section of lead magnet ideas, guide and report, video trainings, webinars, free trials, discounts, free shipping and a free consultation.
So guys, make sure you guys have these um, these lead magnets implemented into all of your clients. If you don’t have clients for your own particular business, again, the more lead magnets you have, I have found that it is better because then people respond differently. You have people that like to read, you have people that like to watch, yet people that just like to listen, you like people that just like to buy the product and try it out.
So you need to be hitting all of these different areas of these people. People like to watch, people like to read and people that just like to buy right up front. So I recommend going in implementing these, find out what’s best for your business.
