Introduction To The Marketing Lyfe Podcast Ep. 16
Episode Number 16 of the marketing life podcast. This is Taylor, Timothy, or host and like I said, guys, this course is big and it is taking a lot of time, but it’s going to bring you guys a lot of value. I’m super excited to get a launched hopefully on January, first of 2019 baby. So what’s coming at ya?So today I’m going to be talking about some lessons that I learned working with Jace Vernon. This guy taught me a lot of stuff and so let’s dive into those little tips and tricks that I learned from j dot Vernon. So I will probably come back to this topic quite often. The reason why is because this was four years of my life. I’m learning about online marketing with the company called marketing hy and I just wanted to Kinda go over some lessons that I learned from Jace Vernon because they’ve helped me get to where I am today as far as the online marketing industry goes. As business goes, as life goes in general.
How Much Does It Cost To Obtain A Client?
And so the first little tip I want to talk about with this goes with online marketing is how much does it cost to obtain a client? So you have to realize when you are running your online marketing campaigns that you need to know how much it costs to actually obtain your client. So a lot of the companies that we worked with when I was there, we worked with law with addiction treatment centers, so addiction treatment centers, a lot of times it costs the client $30,000 a month to stay at the facility. And so how we looked at it is, well we can spend and we should be able to spend $30,000 a month on Facebook ads and PPC ads to obtain this client. And the reason why is because these clients don’t stay just for a month. They usually stay up to a year, they stay up to maybe two years, they enroll, they leave, and then they come back. And so it is important to know how much it costs to obtain your client. So now like using another, an example of maybe like a clothing brand for example. So let’s say they sell hats and it cost $20 to buy that hat online. So if you make a good enough quality product, how many times is that customer going to come back? So how we look at it as is you can spend technically 20 bucks to sell a hat because if your product and service is good enough, they’re going to continue to come back. So it’s really important to know how much it costs to obtain your client when running your Facebook ads or YouTube ads and different things like that so you can know how much you should be spending to obtain that client
Understand The Lifetime Value Of Your Client
The next thing I want to talk about and learn was the lifetime value of your client. Now what does that mean? So the lifetime value of your client is how long that client is going to continue to pay you. So going back to the addiction treatment center, basically we look at it on average. A client stays nine months to a year. So the lifetime value of that customer. If they’re spending $30,000 a month and they stay for nine months, it’s going to be $270,000 is the lifetime value of that client. Now looking at a hat brand, maybe you buy a hat a year for 20 years. The lifetime value is $400, so it’s important to know and calculate that into your ad spend is well, so if you’re hitting your numbers on the lifetime value, obviously under the lifetime value, you are definitely ahead in the long run, so truly important to know this number as well.
Jace Vernon: “If it’s not broke, then don’t mess with it.”
The next thing I want to talk about is if it is, if it isn’t broke, then don’t mess with it. Jace touched this a lot as far as that goes. A lot of times when people are running Facebook ads or PPC ads, they go in there and they make a bunch of changes, but the thing was is the ads were performing well, so don’t go in and make a bunch of changes. Make slow changes when you’re running your Facebook ads and YouTube ads and PPC ads and make slow adjustments to your ads. Now, if they aren’t working, then guess what? They’re broken and you need to go make a bunch of changes, so don’t go in and make a bunch of changes if it’s not broken, you know you can apply that also to your website. If your website’s converting anywhere from four percent to 12 percent, more than likely that is working. Your site’s working. Don’t go in and go in and make a bunch of changes to your website. If, if you are converting that well now, if you want to try and increase it, then yeah, go make some small changes as you go to your websites. So again, tip number three is if it’s not broken, then don’t mess with it.
No Need To Custom Code For Your Website
The last one I want to talk about today is there is no need to code. Now, what I mean by that is now if you’re listening and you’re a coder, I’m not bashing on you here, but there’s no need to code websites anymore for small businesses keyword, there’s no need to code for websites that are small businesses, WordPress spot, shopify, all those different platforms out there. They’re good enough, they convert well enough. So there’s no need to go in and custom code and entire website. Now when I say there’s no need to code, I’m only referring to your website because obviously these webs, these platforms were actually coded to work for the dumb user like me. So thank you coders out there that have gone in and made WordPress more friendly for me and created amazing themes for me because there is a need to code, but there’s no need to custom code and entire website. You’re gonna spending way too much money and on this system and it’s not going to work. So there’s definitely no need custom code.
Custom Coding Can Result In Insecurity And Problems
The other reason why I bring this back up is because when I was working at the company for that for years, I had a lotta. I dealt with a lot of companies that we went and started working with them. They had custom coded their websites or they had like the WordPress platform installed with a theme and they had gone in and made changes to the theme via code. And what happens is this, make sure site not secure. It causes problems in the sense of getting hacked. And when you go into update any plugins, update WordPress, update your themes, 95 percent of the time the site would crash and it would make us look bad and we would have to go in re like build out the site using what the platforms we use. And the thing is, in the four years that I have worked with the theme that I use on WordPress, I have not had a website crash at all. Like it works perfectly. It always works. So I highly recommend it. Not Coding. You know, I look at the phrase like, do you want a car that if you’re going to go sit in your car and started, do you want it to start every time will. Yes. So same with your website. You want your website to be working at all times. You don’t want a super sexy car that doesn’t start or run. So make sure that you’re going in there and use these platforms. Guys, especially if you’re a small business. Now, if you’re a huge corporation that uses, you’re a SAS company, yeah, you might need to use some custom code to obviously display how your software works and things like that. But for small businesses, small businesses, you don’t need a custom coded website. There’s so many things out there that you can get that same look and feel.
Shout Out To Jace Vernon
So like I said, guys, these are some tips that I learned from Jace Vernon. Huge shout out to Jace Vernon. A big thanks to him for giving me the opportunity to work with him for, you know, for a while, for those four years that I worked with them. To give a little backstory on that, that was definitely a time of my life when basically I had kind of hit bottom. I was doing video production, not achieving my goals like I wanted to. And this guy picked me up and gave me the opportunity to learn online marketing. You know, he definitely taught me, you know, Facebook ads, YouTube ads, tips and tricks like that. But more than anything, he provided the opportunity for me to learn these things. And I will say I took advantage and really learned the stuff that he knew. So huge shout out to Jace. I know he doesn’t like to say he likes to, he does not mentor people, but I will say that he was my mentor and has definitely helped me get to where I am today. So huge shout out there.
Conclusion
So that is the end of this episode, episode number 16, the tips and tricks that I learned from Jason Vernon piece, like I said, end of episode number 16. Just to recap, um, the things you needed to make sure that you know when running your own mine campaigns is how much does it cost to obtain a client. You also need to know the lifetime value of your client. Figure that out. Number three, if it doesn’t, if it’s not broken, then don’t mess with it, leave it alone. And last but not least, there is no need to code. So wrapping this episode up again, just to give you guys a reminder, this online course is going to teach you how to build your website from start to finish, all the way to generating leads. And sales for your business, how to analyze that data, how to make adjustments, how to create these ads. I promise you guys, it is going to bring you so much stinking value. It’s going to help you guys generate more leads, sales and conversions for your business. So thanks guys and peace.
