Introduction to the Marketing Lyfe Podcast Ep. 143
Episode, one 43 of the marketing life podcast. This is Taylor Timothy, your host. And today, guys, we’ll be talking about the Google recommendations. So inside of Google, basically they will recommend to you different things that you should do and changes potentially you should make to your campaigns to produce results. So that’s what we’re really talking about. If you should actually be listening to those recommendations. So let’s not waste any more time.
Should You Listen to the Google Recommendations?
So guys, like I said, should you actually listen to the Google recommendations?
Take It Into Consideration
And the answer is take it with a grain of salt and what do I mean by that? So, or take it into consideration is probably the right answer.
Failure Example
So a lot of times Google, for example, for example, this is what happened. I’m running a campaign and basically I was running maximize clicks for my campaign and what Google came out and said and said, and the recommendations you should try switching to maximize conversions. Now the truth be told, I have always ran these particular campaigns maximize clicks. Always. I’ve always found that that produces the best results because they’re calling the campaigns basically from there. I said, okay, I’ll take it in to consideration. We’ll test this, see what happens. And this is what happened immediately. Once I switched over to the campaign, the cost per click quadrupled, and basically the campaign got like one click.
So the answer, that’s why I said, take it into consideration. Now that’s a failure. You know, that’s a fel story of what happened by listening to the recommendations. Now, sometimes Google will recommend is, well, certain key words. Now what’s funny about Google is the literally prompt you to like select all of the keywords that they recommend.
Success Story
Now, a success story that I’ve had was just scrolling through the keywords and realizing that maybe there was like one or two keywords that I potentially forgot to add in there. So that’s what I would recommend there. If you are running Google paid ads, you are very strict on your keywords. You’re very strict on your budgets and things like that. And then you take Google into consideration. So that’s my experience with Google.
Do What The Results Say
You’ll also get CA uh, Google reps actually calling you and telling you what you should be doing. And the truth is all they’re doing is reading off a script. And then they’re just going through the Google recommendations of what Google already recommends. So, and what I’ve found a hundred percent optimization on Google ads is not always the right answer. Sometimes the 70 or the 80% optimization in Google’s eyes is the correct answer. So like I said, what I recommend to you guys is take their thoughts into consideration, but all in all what’s producing results is what you have to ask yourself in the end.
