Ep. 124 Google Listing Suspension Follow Up

Episode one 24 of the marketing podcast. This is Taylor Timothy, your host. And today, guys, we’re gonna be talking about a Google listing suspension and some of the action steps that I’m taking currently to go through this process on how to get this Google listing back up and running.

So, unfortunately in this particular episode, I have yet to solve this problem, but I’m going to get through it because businesses were legit and everything. And I know that we’re gonna be able to get it back, but I will give you an update later on, on this podcast. So you guys can stay tuned here, but today we’re going to be talking about the steps I’ve taken to actually get this thing back.

Google Listing Suspension

So guys, the first thing’s first, this Google listing suspension has occurred and it’s been going on a lot. I’ve read tons of forums since this whole pandemic or whatever you want to call. It has started a lot of suspensions have just randomly come up. And the industry that we are in, we are in the addiction treatment space. And this is why we’re dealing with suspensions of listings.

Why are google listings being suspended?

Now to give you guys an understanding why this whole process is happening in my own opinion is there’s a lot of people going out there and creating phony listings across the United States.

SEO Strategy

So I know an old SEO strategy. What people would do is they would get a listing inside of every single state, even though it’s not an actual business, they would send it to like, um, like small little working spaces and things like that. And they’re actually not even an actual like physical location.

And the thing is, is that’s what Google is now wants. And the reason why I know this is because I started the process for one location that actually wasn’t fully up yet. It’s actually still being built. And what has happened is back in March, this happened. And I actually got on the phone with these guys before this whole thing happened. And they said, if I could provide them these specific documents, that he would turn it on immediately. So this is the process that I have taken.

Appeal to be Reinstated

First things first, once your business gets suspended, you have to go into called, uh, you have to P appeal to be reinstated.

The Process about the Appeal

What you have to do is they ask you, are you the official representative? And so I said, yes. Um, and then they ask you, have you read all of our guidelines and you answer that.

Questions about the Appeal

I said, yes, is your organization permanently located at this place? And I said, yes, have you entered the accurate business address and all that stuff? Um, and they’re making sure that you’re not like a PO box and you say yes. And then you actually operate in this service area. You say, yes. And then do you conduct face to face business? And I said, yes, do you have multiple pages for this same location?

In this case, I said, no, because there’s only one. Then after that, they say, well, what’s your name? You give them your name, your email, the name of the business, the address of your business, and then your Google listing URL. You give them your phone number and you give him some additional information. And then you had some men.

What Google Needs Back From You

I went through this process with the first listing that we had, but he followed up with me back in March and said, Hey, can you send me these two things?

Storefront Pictures

I sent him these, they need storefront. Pictures of the business name of the business should be visible. So somehow there should be like a sticker on the door or a big sign that basically shows that it’s an actual business.

Business License

Then you send them a business license and the business information that, that could be included with that. And after that, they immediately will turn back on your listing.

In this particular case, the reason why is this particular thing I’m talking about? We started, we created it in March, but the business wasn’t fully done yet, the licensing hadn’t even gone through yet. We just wanted to start and get things moving in the right direction. Later. Another business, um, got shut down at a different location that was actually running.

Summary

Again, from my experience, you fill out this reinstatement form, you send them a storefront picture and you send them a business license and you should be able to get this listing backup.

Now I will say with everything right now, um, what’s, what’s going on. I know a lot of Google workers are working from home and I don’t even know if they’re even working. So it’s really not easy getting these listings back up, but I will let you know when I have got them back up and we will get them back up. I will make sure that we get them back up because they are needed for this business and a, they help out a lot.
